BIOBLITZ

Battlefield Bioblitz

We’re hosting an annual Bioblitz at the historic Princeton Battlefield! This is part of a multi-year project tracking the biodiversity of the Battlefield before, during, and after the ecological upgrades taking place.

The Princeton Battlefield Society is adding a large apple orchard and converting more grass lawn to meadow with native plants. There is a historical element to this project, as well as an ecological benefit! Over the next 5 years, we will be using iNaturalist to catalogue and track (hopefully) increased native plants, insects, and birds with these conscious upgrades. Learn more about the Princeton Battlefield Society’s restoration efforts.

Hosted in partnership by Sustainable Princeton, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Princeton Battlefield Society, and the American Battlefield Trust.

What is a BioBlitz?

When a group works together to find and identify as many species of plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms as possible within a designated area during a short, specific timeframe.
