The Largest Earth Day Event in Princeton returns for a 4th year

[Princeton, NJ]: On April 19, 2026, Sustainable Princeton and Morven Museum & Garden will welcome an anticipated 600 community members to their fourth annual “Party Like It’s Your Earth Day” community green fair. This free public event offers programming the whole family can enjoy.

This year’s activities include entertainment from beloved Johnson Park Elementary teacher and DJ, James Myricks, as well as a book and puzzle swap, games, and activities hosted by all 6 Princeton Public Schools, as well as many of the local private schools. Morven’s horticulturists will also continue their tradition of taking guests on free tours of Morven’s historic gardens. This year, for the first time, the museum will be open to the public for free during the event. Sustainable Princeton, in collaboration with the Princeton Public Library and the Princeton Environmental Film Festival, will be rolling out the catwalk for the second annual Trashion Show, featuring stylish clothing made from items that would have otherwise been thrown away. Gratitude Yoga is returning for its fourth year to kick the day off with a free outdoor yoga session on the lawn, and Helpsy will be present to collect clean, used clothing in any condition for recycling and redistribution.

Party Like It’s Your Earth Day will continue the tradition of featuring low-waste, plant-based food vendors including the bent spoon, Try Vegan, Autumn Olive, and Nosh Empanadas.

A new feature of the event this year will be a free, public chartered shuttle bus that will service some of the least walkable and bikeable neighborhoods in town, including the Elm Court and Griggs Farm neighborhoods.

“We want everyone in our community to feel welcome at this event. This year, we made a concerted effort to improve accessibility for neighbors who may not have been able to attend in the past. We are grateful to our transportation sponsor, CME Associates, for making a shuttle bus possible, with a special one-day route serving multifamily communities currently connected by the Princeton Loop,” said Christine Symington, Executive Director of Sustainable Princeton. “Because it’s Earth Day, we also encourage people to walk or bike if they can. The Municipality’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee is organizing a group ride to make biking to the event both fun and safer than going alone. Reducing car trips helps ease local traffic and addresses one of our community’s largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Expanding the use of public transit and biking infrastructure is essential to meeting Princeton’s climate goals.”

“The Earth Day Celebration has always been a fun and engaging way to celebrate spring while learning how to care for the environment. The community green has something for everyone,” Greer Luce, Curator of Education and Public Programs, said. “We’re especially excited to offer free museum admission during this year’s event, making it even easier for the community to explore Morven. And of course, we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Sustainable Princeton.”

About Morven Museum & Garden

Morven Museum & Garden in Princeton, NJ is the only original house of a signer of the
Declaration of Independence that is open to the public. Built in the 1750s for Richard Stockton and his wife, Annis Boudinot Stockton, an early published poet, Morven was home to five generations of the Stockton family and generations of enslaved men and women, as well as immigrant servants. It later became home to the innovative industrialist and humanitarian Robert Wood Johnson, Jr. and served as New Jersey’s first governor’s mansion. Today, Morven welcomes visitors to explore this layered history through its museum exhibitions, educational and cultural programs, and historic gardens. Learn more at morven.org.
