[Princeton, NJ]: Sustainable Princeton is pleased to announce that Elizabeth (Betsy) Marshall, Ph.D., has been named President of the Board of Trustees. The organization also welcomed two new trustees: Jean-Pierre (JP) Breaux, VP Treasurer of NRG Energy, and Justin Mirabal, Energy Attorney at Dentons.
Betsy brings deep expertise in public health. She holds a doctorate in environmental health and occupational health and served on the faculty at the Rutgers School of Public Health for 20 years. While at Rutgers, she collaborated on research and interventions to improve occupational health for immigrant workers, as well as on teaching and other environmental health research.
“Having served on the board as a trustee, then the secretary and vice president, I have a clear understanding of the organization and its impact,” said Marshall. “The team and board do exceptional work advancing Sustainable Princeton’s mission, and I am excited to help ensure this important work continues at a time when it is needed more than ever.”
Sustainable Princeton also expressed its gratitude to Eve Coulson for her leadership as Board President. Coulson will continue to serve on the board as a trustee, providing continuity and institutional knowledge. Trustees David Hill and Steve Averbuch, Ph.D., have completed their full terms of six years, and Bruce Chung has also concluded his service on the Board. The organization also welcomed Beth Behrend as the new liaison to the Princeton Public School Board.
“A strong board is essential to advancing our mission,” said Christine Symington, Executive Director of Sustainable Princeton. “We are grateful for Eve’s leadership, thankful for Bruce, David, and Steve’s dedicated service, and excited to work with Betsy and our new trustees as we continue our impact through education, collaboration, and local sustainability action.”
