Ask An Expert: The State of Recycling in New Jersey

Sustainability and recycling expert, Wayne DeFeo, joined us in an hour-long Ask An Expert Anything session about waste reduction efforts in NJ and the state of recycling. In this virtual session, participants were able to ask Wayne about the current state of affairs of waste management in NJ, the impact of the pandemic, and what the future holds for New Jersey.

Wayne DeFeo is the principal and founder of DeFeo Associates; a full-service Environmental Consulting firm that provides clients with environmental expertise with a strong emphasis on Environmental Sustainability. Wayne has been “green” consulting for over 25 years. He has shown many clients how sustainability has evolved from admirable but impractical efforts to streamlined, cost-effective conservation strategies and technologies. Wayne currently serves on the Somerset County New Jersey Energy Council, Board of Directors for the Association of New Jersey Recyclers and Board of Directors; Recycling Certification Institute. Today, Wayne is recognized as a leader in the recycling industry. He has received special recognition from the NJDEP for his contributions to recycling and currently serves as a Faculty Coordinator for Rutgers University’s School of Continuing and Professional Education. Wayne has developed courses in Recycling Contract Writing and has been a course instructor in New Jersey’s Recycling Coordinator Certification Program for many years.
