Sustainable Princeton and NRG Energy’s beloved EV Ride & Drive event returns on September 30th as eCommuter Fest

This event celebrates carbon-free commuting in Princeton

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 6, 2022

[Princeton, NJ]: Sustainable Princeton, in partnership with NRG Energy, is bringing back their incredibly popular electric vehicle (EV) ride & drive event. Rebranded as eCommuter Fest, this free community festival celebrates the latest in carbon-free commuter technology and features test drives of some of the latest models of e-bikes, e-scooters and electric vehicles.

This year, the location will change from the Princeton Shopping Center to the Westminster Choir College, allowing for more cars, more bikes, and the addition of food vendors. The festival will also feature a community EV show where local electric car and bike owners will be available to answer questions and talk about what it’s like to own and drive an EV in Princeton.

“We are so excited to work with our partners at NRG to bring this wildly popular event back.” Says Christine Symington, Executive Director of Sustainable Princeton. “Transportation-related emissions are one of the largest contributors to Princeton’s overall carbon footprint. The more people who opt for walking, biking, or electric means of transportation, the closer we get to achieving the town’s Climate Action Plan goals. We also are so glad that this new location is more centrally located in town, so more people can bike and walk to the event itself.”

“As a local resident and fellow Board member of Sustainable Princeton, I’m excited to celebrate the 2022 eCommuter Fest,” said Bruce Chung, Executive Vice President of NRG Energy, Inc. “This event marries NRG’s goals with Sustainable Princeton’s mission, proving to be a great collaboration. We saw success last year, and I have no doubt we will have another good turnout as residents are increasingly interested in zero-emissions options for transportation.”

eCommuter Fest will take place on Friday, September 30th from 4-7 pm at the Westminster Choir College parking lot across from the Princeton High School. Walking and biking is highly encouraged. A free bicycle valet will be available in addition to very limited car parking.

Free, and open to the public. Sponsored by NRG Energy, Inc. Visit SustainablePrinceton.org/Events for more information.
