There is No Such Thing as “Away”

Wishful Recycling can do more more harm than good. Proper sorting is critical to the recycling process.

Dear Friends,

You may have read about the restrictions placed by China on importing recyclable materials from the United States. This recent state of affairs is an important reminder that change begins with us if we want to reduce our impact on our environment.

Here’s what you can do:

  • DO keep in mind, the first way to reduce waste is not to produce it. The 3 R’s of waste reduction are Reduce, Reuse then Recycle
  • DO read and follow the Recycling Do’s and Don’ts announcement issued by the Municipality on June 11
  • DO check out our Princeton Guide to Recycling for alternatives for hard-to-recycle materials and options for donating gently used items
  • DON’T “Wishcycle.” If it is not on the list of accepted materials, Do Not put it in the recycling bin

If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering with Sustainable Princeton to help us educate the community through our programming efforts, please contact us.
