EV Rebates are Back!

Good news for anyone in the market for a new car: New Jersey’s rebates for electric vehicles are back! The NJ Board of Public Utilities has just announced the return of the Charge Up New Jersey Program.

Incentives are now “point of sale,” meaning that buyers get to take advantage of the rebate at the dealership and see their purchase price instantly reduced. There are now two tiers of rebates based on a vehicle’s sale price, which must be under $55,000 to be eligible:

  • MSRP under $45,000 will be eligible for a maximum of $5,000 ($25/e-mile).
  • MSRP between $45,000 – $55,000 will be eligible for a maximum of $2,000 ($25/e-mile).

Check out the full list of eligible vehicles to see how both battery electric (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) qualify.

Visit the program website for full details and information about the benefits of EV ownershipEV technology, and the basics of EV charging.  And don’t forget that other state and federal incentives may apply to your purchase.
