Sustainable Princeton and Morven Museum & Garden Celebrate a Successful Second Party Like It’s Your Earth Day Celebration
In cooperation with the Princeton Public Schools

[Princeton, NJ]: On April 20, 2024, over 450 community members gathered for the second annual “Party Like It’s Your Earth Day ” community green fair hosted in partnership with Sustainable Princeton and Morven Museum & Garden. The free public event featured activities hosted by the Princeton Public Schools, Friends of Princeton Open Space, Friends of Herrontown Woods, NJ Native Plant Society, The Cloth Option, and R+K=Smiles Upcycled Toys. Gratitude Yoga offered a free outdoor yoga session on the lawn. Morven’s horticulturist, Louise Senior, offered free historic garden tours, and Sustainable Princeton launched its new community lending library of tools and electric equipment.

“We wanted to build on the success of last year’s event and expand the offerings this year by inviting all the Princeton Public Schools to be part of the programming, and we’re delighted that so many were able to participate in some capacity,” Lisa Nicolaison, Project Manager of Sustainable Princeton, said. “We’ve really enjoyed working with the Morven Museum and Garden team, and it’s been a great way to engage our community on sustainable topics in a fun, festive atmosphere.”

“Between bicycle repairs, garden-inspired crafts for families, composting chickens, education about waste and recycling, an earth–themed reading nook, music, food, and more, this year’s community green fair had so much to offer,” Greer Luce, Curator of Education and Public Programs, said. “We greatly value the opportunity to collaborate with Sustainable Princeton and celebrate ways we can, as a community, better support our planet.”

About Morven Museum & Garden

Most historic sites celebrate one notable resident. Morven is unique in that it was home to many remarkable people. Built in the 1750s and home to one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Richard Stockton, Morven was home to five generations of Stocktons, then Robert Wood Johnson, Jr. before becoming New Jersey’s first Governor’s Mansion and home to five New Jersey governors, their families and staffs, witnessing nearly 300 years of history. Morven is located at 55 Stockton Street, Princeton, NJ and is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The gardens are open daily until dusk.
